Sarah Guibout-Chatelain

Tour guide,

I graduated from the École Nationale de Commerce de Paris Bessières with a BTS in Tourism and from the Gustave Eiffel University with a professional degree. After visiting some of the greatest monuments in the Ile-de-France region, I moved to the Centre Val-de-Loire to help you discover the marvellous châteaux there. Since 2021, I've been helping everyone discover the history of France through its greatest monuments. My little trick is to offer you tours that are a little easier to understand and in which you can take part. Otherwise, I know, you'll have forgotten everything by the time you get home.

My motto: ‘Visits accessible to all!

I'm passionate about the culture and heritage that we have all around us every day, and I'm keen to present them to young and old alike with a less formal, less academic and more fun way of explaining that makes history accessible and understandable to everyone. The aim of my tours is to be understandable to as many people as possible, which is why I sometimes explain certain complex aspects of the story in layman's terms for younger visitors or offer game booklets for children aged 7 and over. I also charge affordable prices to make culture accessible to all budgets.

Sarah Guides You in the Loire Valley Castles

In November 2024, I moved to this beautiful region of the Loire Valley to help you discover its castles. Little by little, I am adding visits to my list and even offering city tours. Blois, Chambord, Amboise... these are cities and castles that are well worth visiting, so what are you waiting for? Come and see for yourself.

Sarah Guides You in Paris

After these experiences, I divided my days between visits booked via my website and assignments offered by the Memories and Get Your Guide agencies.
I wandered between the Louvre, the districts of Paris, the Vedettes de Paris cruises and the Château de Versailles!

Sewer Museum of Paris

I've been working at the Paris Sewer Museum for 2 years, and so far it's been my longest experience. Despite the slightly repulsive name (and the smell, admittedly), it's a great museum!
I was able to show everyone the history and workings of the sewers by walking through a real working site. I've also been able to go down into a real sewer to try out the work of the sewer workers, give tours to school groups, run educational workshops and even appear on the radio or TV.

Château of Beauregard

I then worked at the Château de Beauregard. It was there that I really understood what ‘high season’ meant: one guided tour after another, talking non-stop and, above all, seeing the shining eyes of visitors in front of the sublime Portraits Gallery.
I was able to give dramatised tours dressed up as a countess, a maid or a princess.

Château of Villesavin

The Covid was beginning to fade in the tourist industry and I was finally able to enjoy my job to the full. At Château de Villesavin, I was able to show the castle, the wedding museum, the mini-farm, the dovecote and the magnificent forest to tourists.

Royal Château of Blois

After discovering and visiting them, I started working in the Loire Valley castles!
My first experience there (still with remnants of Covid) was at the Château of Blois (still half-closed).
It was there that I learnt how to do research to better prepare a guided tour.

My first guided tour

I have great memories of my first guided tour of the Île de la Cité with a group of hig school students from Bordeaux, who were absolutely charming!
That's probably what made me want to do this for a living.

Finestrat tourist office

I then flew out to work at the Finestrat Tourist Office (in Spain).
It's fair to say that there I really practised my Spanish with my colleagues, as well as my English with the Dutch tourists.

Citysightseeing bus

I also worked for a while for a ‘Hop-on Hop-off’ bus company. I mainly sold tickets at the various stops. Above all, this experience gave me the confidence to speak foreign languages.

Army Museum - Invalides

I worked at the reception desk of the Invalides, Army Museum of Paris. Introducing visitors to the various things to discover in this museum was a sublime first experience in a unique place.
