"The tour was good, but quite expensive, especially since admission wasn't included. For €45 per person, we would have liked to have had more background information (about the period in general and the role of women) and to have visited more rooms. Several rooms were recommended to us at the end."

"As luck would have it, we ran into Sarah, our guide from Chambord, for the tour of Blois. She was able to put the two castles and their history into perspective. She knows her subject very well, and her commentary enriches everything we see in a way that is both engaging and informative, refreshing and updating our sometimes rusty knowledge of one of the most fascinating periods in French history. We learned a great deal, and were left wanting to know even more than what the very brief 90-minute tour allowed us to discover."

She was happy to answer our questions, even about the smallest details, and to draw connections between the site and its figures and other historical contexts. Clearly, she wanted us to take something away from the visit that would last beyond the tour itself. She succeeded. My only regret: an hour and a half is a bit short."
