The story awaits you

Discover or rediscover one of Europe’s most prestigious castles! I offer a fun-filled tour that will help you fully understand the history of this unique heritage site.

As an independent guide, I organize this tour as a shared small group, limited to a maximum of 10 participants. You’ll join other visitors to share a friendly experience and walk in the footsteps of Francis I and his ambitious project: building the “Jewel of the French Renaissance.” Please note: my service includes only the guided tour; the castle admission ticket is not included and must be purchased separately.

So you can spot me easily: I’m a young woman with dark hair and glasses. I’ll be waiting for you in front of the castle with my guide badge around my neck and a French flag in my hand. Please note: the visitor parking lots are not located right at the gates! Plan on a 5- to 10-minute walk from your vehicle to reach the castle. Please arrive at the meeting point 10 minutes before the tour starts.

Audio equipment

I provide audio equipment (a microphone system for me and headphones for you) to ensure you have the best possible listening experience throughout our tour, even if there are people around us.

Practical Information

Visit route

Departure: Meet me in front of the castle entrance, just before the security checkpoint. End: Our tour will end on a high note on the famous terraces of Chambord.

Sarah's tips

  • Dress warmly: Since the castle is always open to the outside, there are many drafts and it is often quite chilly inside. Be sure to wear warm clothes, especially in winter!
  • With children: Strollers are allowed on the ground floor, but you will need to leave them there when we go up to the upper floors.
  • Interactive tour: You’ll be asked to participate by answering my questions or even by pretending to be members of the court on the famous double-helix staircase.
  • Mobility: This tour involves walking, standing for 1.5 hours, and climbing the castle’s stairs (there is no elevator). I strongly recommend wearing comfortable, appropriate shoes.
